    b.    Using recent experience in leading the transformation of the human resources department at FBL Financial Group, demonstrate how these steps assimilate in the process of transforming a traditional human resources function to Strategic HR

    About our presenter:

    Karen Rieck joined FBL Financial Group in March of 2012 as Director of Compensation and Benefits. She took over the role of Vice President of Human Resources in October 2014. In this role she is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the Human Resources functions. More specifically she is charged with building and leading her team to plan, design, and execute HR programs and services that align with business strategies and build organizational capabilities.


    Karen is in her 25th year serving as a human resources professional. She has extensive hands-on experience leading HR initiatives including performance management, talent acquisition, talent development, compensation and benefits administration, and strategic planning. 


    Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and math education and a Masters of Business Administration from Mid America Nazarene University. She holds multiple designations including Senior Professional (SPHR) in Human Resources from the Human Resources Certification Institute, Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) from World at Work, and Senior Human Resources Business Partner (S-HRBP) from Human Capital Institute. She is an active volunteer in various industry groups, where she has held a number of leadership roles. She has recently served on the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation board and Chair of the Business Horizons board, a program of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation.
